OUR APARTMENTS

Victoria Cloisters offers a collection of one- and two-bedroom self-catering apartments in York city centre, available exclusively through The Queen’s Hotel. Ideal for leisure breaks and short-term business stays, the apartments provide extra space and independence while keeping you close to the city’s main attractions.

Located just 100 metres from the hotel on Fetter Lane, Victoria Cloisters places guests within easy walking distance of York railway station and many of the city’s most popular sights.

OUR RESTAURANT

The Royal Brasserie serves breakfast and evening meals daily.

Start your day with a full English or Continental plated breakfast, freshly prepared each morning by our experienced Breakfast Chef. Guests are advised to pre-book their table upon arrival with Reception.

In the evening, enjoy delicious home-cooked dishes made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The evening menu is available from 5pm to 8pm, service may be limited on selected days — please call to check.

Whether you’ve had a long day at work or explored the sights of York, relax in our Riverside Lounge and take in views overlooking the River Ouse.

Our bar is open daily, subject to current opening hours, offering a perfect spot for drinks in a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere.

  • Parking is subject to availability at both properties, and pre-booking is essential due to limited spaces. Parking is charged per night, with prebooked spaces available from 12:00 noon on the day of arrival until 12:00 noon on the day of departure. Parking cannot be booked online; guests must contact the hotel directly after making their room or apartment reservation. Please note that the hotel car park may be subject to flooding during prolonged periods of wet weather. In such cases, alternative parking arrangements will be recommended. 

  • Unfortunately the Hotel does not accept stag/hen or social groups. Family and Leisure Coach groups are welcome, reservations of this nature should be discussed with our Groups Manager.

How to get to the Queens Hotel

By Air: Leeds/Bradford Airport 28 miles; Teeside International Airport 45 miles

Driving

From The East

A1079 to City Centre to Walmgate. Turn left and continue past the Barbican Centre. Stay on the right and follow the one-way system, keeping in the middle lane to round about. Continue to the next set of traffic lights passing Clifford’s Tower on the right. Follow the flow over the bridge and at the traffic lights turn left into Skeldergate. The hotel is approx 30 metres on the left.

From The South

M1/M18 Junction 2 A1 (M), to A64 to York A1036 slip road to city Centre. Pass through City Walls, through first set of traffic lights, at the second set of lights, turn right onto Skeldergate. The hotel is approx 30 metres on the left.

From The North

From the A1 to A59 to city centre, pass through City Walls onto Micklegate, through first set of traffic lights, at second set turn right into Skeldergate. Or, from the A19 cross the Outer Ring Road (A1237) into York, passing the Theatre Royal. Turn Right at the traffic lights, over Lendal to the next set of lights. Turn left into George Hudson Street. Turn left at the next lights and first right into Skeldergate. The hotel is approx 30 metres on the left.

By train

From the train station in York we recommend taking a taxi to the Hotel. 

Alternatively if you prefer to walk please follow directions via Google maps, taking a left turn out of the station main entrance walk north west along Station Road to the 4 way crossroads. Turn right here and cross the road when safe to do so. Follow the footpath towards the memorial at the top of Station Rise (you will walk under the city wall) and then bear left down Station Rise. At the bottom of this street turn right and walk along Rougier Street, head straight across at the junction with Tanner Row, follow the footpath along George Hudson Street until the traffic lights at the end. Turn left at the junction which will bring you onto the bottom of Micklegate. Walk straight ahead to the next set of traffic lights, here you will need to turn right into Skeldergate. Do not cross the river. Once you are walking along Skeldergate you will find the Hotel at the first left turn onto Queens Staith Road. The hotel is on the right-hand side. The Google maps estimated walk time is 10 minutes.
